Sikkim, India

Sikkim is a landlocked state of India, the last to give up its monarchy and fully integrate into India, in 1975. Located in the Himalayan mountains, the state is bordered by Nepal to the west, China's Tibet Autonomous Region to the north and east, and Bhutan to the east. The Indian state of West Bengal lies to the south. With 607,688 inhabitants as of the 2011 census,Sikkim is the least populous state in India and the second-smallest state after Goa in total area, covering approximately 7,096 km2 (2,740 sq mi).

Sikkim is nonetheless geographically diverse due to its location in the Himalayas; the climate ranges from subtropical to highalpine, and Kangchenjunga, the world's third-highest peak, is located on Sikkim's border with Nepal. Sikkim is a popular tourist destination, owing to its culture, scenery and biodiversity. It also has the only open land border between India and China. Sikkim's capital and largest city is Gangtok. Almost 25% of the state is covered by the Khangchendzonga National Park.

Pemayangtse monastery

The Pemayangtse Monastery is a Buddhist monastery in Pemayangtse, near Pelling in the northeastern Indian state of Sikkim, located 140 kilometres (87 mi) west ofGangtok.Planned, designed and founded by Lama Lhatsun Chempo in 1705, it is one of the oldest and premier monasteries of Sikkim, also the most famous in west Sikkim. Originally built by Lhatsun Chenpo in the 17th century, as a small Lhakhang, it was subsequently enlarged during the reign of the third Chogyal Chakdor Namgyal who was considered as Lhatsun Chenpo's third reincarnate, Jigme Pawo.

Khangchendzonga National Park

Khangchendzonga National Park (previously named Kanchenjunga National Park) also Kanchenjunga Biosphere Reserve is a National Park and a Biosphere reserve located in Sikkim, India. It was inscribed to the UNESCO World Heritage Sites list on July 17, 2016, becoming the first "Mixed Heritage" site of India. The park gets its name from the mountain Kanchenjunga (alternative spelling Khangchendzonga) which is 8,586 metres (28,169 ft) tall, the third-highest peak in the world. The total area of this park is 849.5 km2 (328.0 sq mi).

Rumtek monastery

holy position as it is the seat of the Karmapa Lama, the third highest monk in Tibetan culture. It is also known as Dharmachakra centre and serves as one of the most important seats of the Kagyu sect of Tibetan Buddhism outside of Tibet, thus this monastery is one of the most revered monasteries in India. The best places to stay can be found in Gangtok, which is 23 kms from the monastery and offers stay options for every budget. It is advisable to carry your own food and water here as there are limited options to eat. It is open from 6 am to 6 pm. The nearest airport is Bagdogra which is 124 kms away and from where state transport buses and cabs run to Gangtok.

Namchi

Sikkim opens up a window to the North-eastern part of India and is home to numerous picturesque and spectacular natural beautiful locations that are still unexplored. Apart from the more known places like Gangtok, Pelling etc., there are many other places that are waiting to be explored. Namchi is one of them. Home to the world's largest statue of Padmasambhava or Guru Rinpoche, the patron saint of Sikkim, Namchi is famous for its Buddhist monastery and panoramic views of the mountain ranges.

Dzongery trek

Nestled high in the Himalayas Dzongri Trek is one of the most popular treks in Sikkim. The starting point is Yuksom and it takes about 5 days to complete this trek. To get the best view of the snow clad peaks and ranges of Sikkim part of Himalayas, Dzongri La is the best spot. Some of the well known peaks in the world can be seen from the Dzongri View Points, like Mt. Kanchendzonga(third highest peak in the world), Mt. Pandim, Mt. Kabur, Mt. Kumbhakarna, Mt. Koktang, Mt. Rathong, Mt. Goecha Peak etc.
